The Women's Institute Club - Part II

~ Mom's Journal ~

The traditional values often portray women as housewife and mother where their primary roles are to care for the families. While the roles are indeed satisfying there are times when they can be challenging. In such a situation housewives and mothers would need time off too. Therefore there is a need to provide a platform to function as a support group where women can also develop other skills in an environment where they can also make new friends. The Women's Institute Club was a familiar organisation among ladies in the 1960s era. As a group, they may participate in local events or organise their own activities.

In a time where people were less judgemental and life was deemed to be less complicated, we found a group of beautiful, cheerful and dedicated ladies engaged in various programmes sharing joy and knowledge together. They proved to be memorable occasions.

The followings are some photographs taken at the events and activities attended by some members of the organisation.

The field, the river and the road may change with the passage of time but the memories transcend time and space.
